JAMMU, Mar 2: Nagrota, Domana and Janipur police arrested four persons and recovered large quantity of illicit liquor from their possession.
As per police sources, on reliable information, a team from Nagrota Police Station intercepted a car, which was on its way to Katra from Jammu.
During checking, police recovered 36 bottles of illicit liquor from the vehicle and arrested two persons, who have been identified as Chandan Singh, son of late Gandarab Singh of Kandolian Katra and Lal Singh, son of Nand Lal of Tirthi Katra.
A case under FIR Number 47/18 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Nagrota Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a team from Domana Police Station arrested a man along with 38 pouches of illicit liquor from Lower Roop Nagar area. The accused has been identified as Bunty Sharma, son of Narayan Dutt, a resident of Janipur Colony.
A case under FIR Number 73/18 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Domana Police Station and investigation started.
In a similar case, a team from Janipur Police Station intercepted a van and during checking recovered 115 pouches of illicit liquor from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Krishan Chand, son of Lal Chand, a resident of Malpur Chandia, tehsil Akhnoor.
A case under FIR Number 20/18 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Janipur Police Station and investigation started.
Police teams led by SHO Nagrota Inspector Bhushan Manhas, SHO Domana Inspector Sumeet Sharma and SHO Janipur SI Bimal Indu made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Yashbir Singh Slathia, SDPO Domana Sandeep Gupta, DySP Headquarters Jammu Rajpaul Singh, SP Rural Shivdeep Singh Jamwal and SP City Dr Vinod Kumar.
