SAMBA,Dec 11: In a major breakthrough in its war against drugs, District Police Samba has arrested Punjab based narcotics smuggler and recovered 370 kg of Poppy Straw (Bhukki) in the jurisdiction of P/S Samba.
Acting on reliable information, a police team of PP Supwal headed by I/C PP Supwal, SI Rajveer Singh under the supervision of SHO, P/S Samba, Inspector, Shiv Dev Singh and DySP Headquarters and under the overall supervision of Additional SP, Samba Faisal Qureshi one truck bearing registration No. UP38AT-7396 which was coming from Kashmir and moving toward Punjab.
During checking, the vehicle was found to be loaded with apple boxes, in which 16 bags weighing total 370 kg of Poppy Straw were concealed.
The accused driver identified as Gurdev Singh, S/o Mohinder Singh, R/o Basti Meethu, Jalandhar has been arrested on spot and the recovered contraband item was seized.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 261/2019 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at P/S Samba and further investigation started.
