UDHAMPUR, May 7: Police foiled five separate smuggling attempts in the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and rescued 35 bovine animals. Meanwhile, property worth Rs 75 lakh of three bovine smugglers was attached.
During the Police action, vehicles bearing registration numbers. JK01AV-8401, JK06B-3087, JK20A-4111 and JK14K-3200 were seized, while in one case bovines were being smuggled on foot. However, the accused persons could not be arrested as they managed to flee from the spot taking advantage of darkness.
Accordingly, five separate cases FIR Nos. 188/2026, 189/2026, 190/2026, 191/2026 and 192/2026 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PCA Act have been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation has been taken up.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police attached properties worth Rs 75 lakhs under Section 107 BNSS in connection with three separate bovine smuggling cases registered at Police Station Udhampur (PP Battal Ballian).
The attached properties include a Mahindra Bolero Pick-up bearing Registration No. JK19A-5734 along with cash amounting to Rs 1.06 lakhs involved in FIR No. 390/2025 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act registered against Abdul Qadoos Kassana, son of Gulzaman Kassana, resident of Manzmoh, Anantnag.
Another attached property includes an LP Truck bearing Registration No. UP11BT-3685 involved in FIR No. 113/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act registered against Abdul Hamid, son of Abdul Jabbar, resident of Tringla Batote, District Ramban.
Similarly, a Truck (Canter) bearing Registration No. JK19A-5734 involved in FIR No. 149/2026 U/S 223 BNS & 11 PCA Act was attached in a case registered against Mohd Qadoos, son of Mohd Maroof, resident of Chanderkote, Ramban.
