34 get State Awards

JAMMU, Jan 25: Four IAS officers and six journalists were among 34 persons selected for this year’s State Award by the J&K Government, for their meritorious and outstanding services in various fields on  Republic Day.
In the field of meritorious public service, senior IAS officers- Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, Principal Secretary to Govt, Higher Education Department; Navin Kumar Choudhary, Principal Secretary to Government, Finance Deptt; Rohit Kansal, Principal Secy to Chief Minister; Shailendra Kumar, Commissioner/ Secretary to Govt Industries and Commerce; Arshad Ayoub (KAS), Special Secretary to the Chief Secy; Inam-ul-Haq Siddiqqi (KAS), OSD with Tourism Minister and Gurmeet Namgial, Tehsildar Leh have been selected for this year’s State Award.
Six journalists selected for this year’s State Award are- Ashwani Kumar- Jammu Bureau Chief, Aaj Tak; Abhimanyu Sharma- Editor, Dainik Jagran, Jammu (J&K); Anil Bhat- Jammu Bureau Chief, PTI; Arif Shafi- Senior Editor,  Greater Kashmir; Toufiq Rashid from Hindustan Times (Srinagar) and Mushtaq Ahmed Tantray-Deputy Director, News Doordarshan.
In the sports category, eight outstanding sportspersons selected are- Rajinder Singh  and Aijaz Hussain (Wushu), Narinder Sharma and Anchal Sharma (Taekwondo), Sairah Zahoor (Thang Ta), Rakshak Jandial (Roll Ball), Krupali Singh (Gym) and Majid Dar Football Coach.
Renowned artist and theatre director Balwant Thakur and Haji Khazir Mohd Dar ( Prop. Khazir Travels) have been selected in  ‘Lifetime  Achievement Award’ category.
In the field of Literature, Gianeshwar Sharma  (Dogri writer); Atiqa Bano- educationist (Posth)  and Dr Darakhshan Andrabi ( Urdu/Kashmiri poet and writer) have been selected for this year’s State Award.
In the field of Arts,  this year’s nominees are: Vijay Malla- Kashmiri Singer (Posth), Zaira Wasim ( Actress) and Waheed Jeelani ( singer/ composer). Muneer Khan from I&FC Deptt  and Ishfaq Ali Mir (  Police Press)  have been selected in the category of Art and Craft.
Abdul Majid Wani, Fireman has been selected for bravery, Chotay Taray Foundation for social reforms and empowerment while Anjali Chopra in the category of  outstanding industrial entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary, Finance, Navin K Choudhary in a statement, said he has decided to donate the cash award money to the Neha Ghar for the rehabilitation of abandoned girls/ women and School for Disabled being run by Javed Tak in Anantnag, equally.
