JAMMU, May 14: National Lok Adalat for MACT and Insurance Claims was held across the State at High Court and District level under the patronage of Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of J&K and Patron-in-Chief J&K State Legal Services Authority and under the guidance of Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir, Judge High Court of J&K and Executive Chairman, J&K State Legal Services Authority.
A total of 305 MACT and Insurance claims were disposed off in the Lok Adalat and an amount of Rs 8.58 crore approximately was awarded as compensation.
A National Lok Adalat was organized in District Court Complex Jammu under the chairmanship of Chairman District Legal Service Authority (Pr. District and Sessions Judge), Jammu, Sanjay Gupta.
The bench was headed by Presiding Officer MACT, Jammu, Jaffer Hussain Beg and Presiding Officer, District Consumer Forum, Jammu, Shahzad Azeem.
A total 57 cases were taken up, out of which 22 cases were settled and an amount of Rs.95,81,000 was realized.
RS PURA: A Lok Adalat was held at Munsiff JMIC Court Complex, here. Chairman, Tehsil Legal Services Committee, RS Pura, Parvaiz Iqbal presided over the bench. During the course of deliberation, 26 cases pertaining to compoundable criminal cases were listed before the Lok Adalat, out of which 6 cases were disposed off. Fine amounting to the tune Rs 7500 was realized.
RAJOURI: A National Lok Adalat was held at District Court Complex under the chairmanship of Inder Singh, Chairman, District legal Services Authority. One bench was constituted which was headed by Inder Singh himself and was assisted by Khalil Ahmed Choudhary, Additional District and Sessions Judge. 18 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 48,45000 was awarded as compensation.
DODA: A Lok Adalat was held under the chairmanship of OP Thakur, Chairman Tehsil legal Services Committee Doda. 37 cases were taken up, out of which 13 cases were decided and award of Rs 14,14,130 was passed and fine of Rs 1600 was also recovered on the spot. Chairman was accommodated by Javid Rana District Mobile Magistrate Doda, Arun Kotwal Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Doda, and Senior Advocates.
RAMBAN: A National Lok Adalat was held here. A bench was constituted which was headed by Kalpana Revo, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority and assisted by Rajesh Kumar Abrol, CJM Ramban and Imran Wani, Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Ramban. A total of 50 cases were taken up out of which 30 cases were disposed off. An amount of Rs 70,61,500 was awarded in MACT cases whereas Rs 27,56,194 was disbursed to various petitioners on the spot.
SRINAGAR: A National Lok Adalat of MACT and Insurance claims was organized today under the chairmanship of District and Sessions Judge, Rasheed Ali Dar at District Court Complex, Sannat Ghar Bemina. Two benches were constituted to settle the cases. First bench was presided over by Presiding Officer MACT Srinagar, Shazia Tabasum, Special Judge Anticorruption CBI, YT Kotwal and second bench was presided over by Additional District and Session Judge Divisional Consumer Forum Srinagar and Member of Divisional Consumer Forum Srinagar, Jeema Bashir. As many as 111 cases were taken up out of which 81 cases were settled amicably and an amount of Rs 1.11 crore was awarded as compensation.
BUDGAM: A national Lok Adalat was held here under the Chairmanship of Muhammad Yousuf Wani, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Budgam. A total of 76 cases were taken up for disposal and efforts were made to settle maximum number of cases by reconciliation.
BARAMULLA: A National Lok Adalat was organized by DLSA at Court Complex under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Syed Tawqeer Ahmed. A total of 14 cases were taken up, out of which 3 cases were settled and Rs 8.90 lakh was recovered as settlement amount.
ANANTNAG: A National Lok Adalat, organized by District Legal Services Authority, Anantnag was held at District Court under the chairmanship of Principal District and Sessions Judge Jawad Ahmad.
In the said Lok Adalat, 17 cases pertaining to MACT and Insurance claims were taken up, out of which 7 were settled amicably on the spot. A settlement amount of Rs 1855000 was also realized.
