Police helped Golf to survive: DGP

SRINAGAR, May 14: Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir Police has been promoting sports in the State to channelize the energy of the youth in positive direction, Director General of Police (DGP) K Rajendra Kumar said it has helped the Golf to survive during the times of turmoil and prevented it from being extinct.
“J&K Police has been promoting sports in the State and as a part of this activity, Golf Course has been established to sustain the century old game of the Valley”, Kumar said after throwing open Police Golf Course at a Tee Off function held here this evening.
The Golf Course is situated on the banks of world famous Dal Lake.
He said the state Police has helped the Golf to survive during the times of turmoil and prevented it from being extinct.
“Police Golf Course remained active and constantly groomed golfers paving way for the survival of golf in the Valley. Our aim is to promote Golf as a game and ensure production of professional young golfers”, he added.
Earlier, ADGP (Armed), ML Mohanti delivered on the efforts being made for maintaining the Golf Course. He said that the Golf Course is being maintained as per the standards.
The function was also attended by DGs SK Mishra and Gopal Reddy, ADGPs Dilbag Singh and AK Choudhary, IGPs SJM Gillani, MA Khan, SA Watali and Sunil Kumar, DIGs GH Bhat and Uttam Chand, Commandant JKAP 9th Battalion Shalender Sharma and other police officers.
