SRINAGAR, Feb 1: At least 30 people died due to swine flu in the Kashmir valley, where a total of 147 cases were reported this winter season, Sher-e- Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) said today.
Out of total 147 patients who were diagnosed with swine flu, 30 died while 115 patients were discharged and two are currently admitted in the hospital.
Most of the patients who died were already suffering from chronic diseases like Kidney failures, Heart problems, Diabetes etc. “The patients who died due to swine flu were already suffering from chronic diseases and they were not able to recover as they had a weak immune system,” said an official of the SKIMS.
He said 30 deceased persons include 20 men and 10 women. However, the month of December last year was the deadliest in which 11 deaths were recorded followed by nine in November and three in October. ”This year six persons died in the month of January and one person died today,” he said.
