JAMMU, Nov 15: Police arrested 30 gamblers with around Rs 1,26,000 stake money and playing cards.
As per police sources, a team from Marheen Police Post led by Inspector Vikas conducted raid in a field at village Mandala Lachnipur and arrested 7 gamblers with Rs 13600 stake money.
The arrested persons were identified as Vinod Kumar, son of Sukh Ram of Mandala Tehsil Marheen, Mahinder Paul, son of Rak Kumar of Devo Chak Tehsil Marheen, Angrez Singh, son of Mool Raj of Pansar Tehsil Marheen, Ashwani Kumar, son of Janak Raj of Pansar Tehsil Marheen, Beeru Ram, son of Kunj Lal of Mandala, Joginder Paul, son of Kartar Chand of Lachhipur Tehsil Marheen and Jashwinder Singh, son of Gopal Singh of Lachhipur Tehsil Marheen.
Cognizance under Section 13 Gambling Act has been taken by Rajbagh Police.
Meanwhile, a team from Kanachack Police Station led by SHO Inspector Vishaw Partap Singh arrested 6 gamblers along with Rs 58,150 stake money and playing cards.
The arrested gamblers were identified as Vikas Gupta, son of Bachan Lal Gupta of Purkhoo, Vicky Gupta, son of Vijay Gupta of Purkhoo, Kaka Singh alias Chand, son of Kaku Singh of Channu Chack tehsil Marh, Amit Gupta, son of Janak Raj Gupta of Purkho, Rukman Singh, son of Bhisham Singh of Channu Chack and Aman Gupta, son of Pawan Gupta of Purkhoo.
Cognizance under Section 13 Gambling Act has been taken by Kanachack Police.
However, acting on specific information regarding gambling, a team from Police Station Vijaypur raided the gambling spot at Canal Road near Vishawakarma Temple and arrested 4 gamblers alongwith stake money of Rs 4,070 and playing cards.
The arrested persons were identified as Anu, son of Amar Chand of Chatterpur MP, at present Vijaypur, Sanjay, son of Mohan Dass of Chattterpur MP, at present Vijaypur, Kalu, son of Baru of Chatterpur MP, at present Gurha Morh Vijaypur and Moti Lal, son of Hari Lal of Chatterpur MP, at present Gurha Morh, Vijaypur.
All the gamblers were booked under Section 13 Gambling Act at Police Station Vijaypur.
In another incident, a team from Janipur Police Station led by SHO Inspector Gurmeet Singh conducted raids at different locations and apprehended 13 gamblers along with Rs 51,700 stake money and playing cards.
Cases under relevant Sections were registered at Janipur Police Station and investigation started.
