Contaminated zones in Srinagar sealed

Srinagar, Apr 14: Three persons today tested positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir as the number of Corona patients went up to 228 in the Valley.
The 41-year old man from Anantnag who tested positive has a baker’s shop in Sarnal Anantnag area. Baker and his family are already in quarantine. Also the owner of the shop and his family are in quarantine in Pahalgam.

A 27-year-old woman and 35-year-old man from Gund Jahangir Bandipora also tested positive for COVID-19 today.
Medical Superintendent SKIMS Dr Farooq Jan said they tested 47 samples collected at the tertiary care hospital besides 34 from GMC Baramulla, 54 from Budgam, 11 from Kupwara and one from Ganderbal. “Two of these samples came out to be positive and remaining negative.” These two cases are from Gund Jahangir Bandipora and contacts of a previous COVID-19 patient.
The Deputy Commissioner Kupwara said all samples from north Kashmir district tested negative today. He said contact tracing and testing in Red Zones being done and shall continue as a standard procedure.
Twenty one COVID positive patients from Kashmir division including two minor sisters from Natipora Srinagar have recovered and have been discharged, leaving the active cases in Kashmir to 204.

Government today said that 55498 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance who include 7760 persons in-home quarantine including facilities operated by Government, 365 in Hospital Quarantine, 244 in hospital isolation and 30952 under home surveillance. Besides, 16173 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period. So far 4341 samples have tested as negative.
In Srinagar, the district administration today sealed the COVID-19 containment zones to ensure strict adherence to the Government notified SOPs.
All the entry-exit points of all areas declared as containment zones have been sealed. At least half of these points in each one of these areas have been sealed with removable barriers. There are 45 points enabling access in and out of them as and when required.
The administration has declared 15 areas of Srinagar as containment or Red Zones. These include Eidgah Goripora, Nowshehra, Hawal, Ahmed Nagar, Lal Bazar, Hyderpora, Natipora, Jawahar Nagar, Chattabal, Bemina, Tengpora, Khayam, Nishat and Lasjan.
The administration has put in place an elaborate and comprehensive mechanism in all these areas to ensure all requirements and needs of residents are covered for as long as these areas remain under restrictions.
