3 OGWs arrested

Srinagar, May 14: Police today arrested three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district while two militants fled from a security cordon in Kulgam district last night.
Security forces including police and Army today arrested three OGWs of LeT from Baramulla.
They have been identified as Sajjad Ahmad Gojri son of Bashir Ahmad Gojri, Nasir Ahmad Sheikh son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh and Junaid Farooq son of Farooq Ahmad Dar all residents of Khanpura, Baramulla.
Police said that they were working as OGWs for Lashkar-e-Toiba outfit. “Arms and ammunition were also recovered besides certain documents. In this regard case FIR no 55/2020 stands registered in police station Baramulla and further investigation taken up”, Police said.
And taking advantage of the darkness, militants who were trapped by security forces in Yamrach area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district managed to flee after an initial exchange of fire with security forces.
Security forces including Police, Army and CRPF cordoned off village Yamrach in Kulgam district late last night after specific inputs about the presence of militants.
A police official said that after security forces zeroed in on the house where they were hiding, militants opened fire.
During the search operation, militants fired indiscriminately at the searching parties of forces. The troops immediately took cover and retaliated. Militants took advantage of darkness and fled from the spot.
Sources said that the security forces had information about presence of two militants in the village.
