3 killed, infant injured in Nagrota mishap

JAMMU, Apr 30: Three people, including a woman, were killed today while an infant was injured when a motorcycle and a TATA Mobile collided with each other near Nagrota Zoo area on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
According to a police sources, the mishap occurred at about 1 PM when a TATA Mobile moving in wrong tube of the National Highway collided head on with a bike coming from opposite side.
They said three persons and a 2-month old baby travelling on the bike received serious injuries in the mishap. “All of them were shifted in an ambulance of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) and taken to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH Jammu), where all the three adults were declared as brought dead by the doctors,” they added.
Sources said that the deceased were identified as Begum Jaan (50) of Khanpur (Nagrota), Riyaz Ahmed (32) of Bantalab (Nagrota) and Sushil Kumar (35) of Tutten Di Khui (Khanna Chargal). They further informed that the condition of the baby namely Upasana daughter of Zohar Ahmed of Khanpur, injured in the mishap, was stable.
“In this connection, a case under relevant sections has been registered at police station Nagrota and efforts were on to nab the accused TATA Mobile driver, who escaped from the spot after committing the crime,” sources added.
