3 killed in Ramban mishap

RAMBAN, Feb 28: Three persons were killed when a Santro car, they were travelling in, plunged into 600 feet deep gorge at Digdol late last night.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AF-2816 was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu when it met with accident on the intervening night of Feb 27 and 28. As there was no movement of the vehicles in Digdol area of the highway, the accident remained unnoticed till this morning when some locals informed the police and army about the same.
After hectic efforts, army and police personnel brought out the occupants of the ill-fated vehicle from the gorge and shifted the bodies to District Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din, Tasaduq Hussain, son of Mohd Yousaf Sheikh and Itiq-ul-Hassan, son of Sarfraz Hassan, all the residents of Chrar-i-Sharief, Srinagar.
Meanwhile, Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah expressed grief over the tragic road accident and conveyed sympathies to the bereaved families.
