JAMMU, Aug 25: Forest Department, assisted by Revenue officials and police today launched major operation in Sunjwan area and retrieved 3 kanal forest land after bulldozing walls and structure.
Official sources said that the team of Forest officials led by DFO Jammu Dr V S Senthil Kumar and assisted by Revenue officials headed by SDM Jammu South, Shahid Mehmood and SDPO South Mohd Rafiq Manhas launched anti-encroachment operation in Khasra No. 371 at Sunjwan and removed structures, boundary walls, illegal structures from nearly 3 kanal area.
The team was supported by strong contingent of police and the land grabbers did not dare to resist Government action. They used JCB to smash the stone and brick walls about 120 ft and 200 ft in length besides other concrete structures during three hour long operation. The land grabbers identified as Shokat Ali, Sharafat Ali, sons of Allah Rakha and Abdul Majid, son of Mir Ali, residents of Sunjwan were issued warnings by Range Officer and his team on August 7, 8 and 24, 2015 and were asked not to raise construction on Forest land but they continued their illegal work.
The entire operation was well coordinated by CF East Jammu B M Sharma and Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu, Roshan Jaggi. The Range Officer has lodged an FIR against these land grabbers. A Forest Offence Report (FOR) for violation of Section 6 of J&K Forest Act has also been registered against them in the office of Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu for legal action.
