SRINAGAR, Sept 9: Pakistan this evening violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar sector of North Kashmir where three militants were apprehended by Army.
The Pakistani troops targeted the forward posts of Army manned by 20 Jat regiment at around 8:35 p.m with Rocket Propelled Grenades and it was followed by mortar shelling. The Army fired back and intermittent firing was going on but there were no reports of damage or casualties.
Army said that ceasefire violations are aimed at infiltrating militants into Kashmir. They said that under the cover of firing Pakistani troops help militants in infiltration. They said, that over 250 militants are waiting for infiltration and Army is alert to foil their attempts.
Meanwhile three militants were apprehended by Army near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tanghdar area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district today.
Army troops of 17 Bihar regiment manning the fence in Tanghdar sector yesterday intercepted three youths near the LoC. After being apprehended, the soldiers handed over them to Police Station Karnah for further investigations.
After being searched no arms and ammunition was recovered from their possession but they had crossed the LoC last year for arms and ammunition training in Pakistan.
During questioning, they disclosed that they belonged to Tehreek ul Mujahideen and Hizbul Mujahideen outfits.
The arrested militants were identified as Wakeel Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar of Bankote, Bandipora and Sajad Ahmad Khawaja son of Habibullah Khawaja of Bankote, Bandipora and Mohammad Shafi Bhat son of Mohammad Abdullah Bhat.
A case has been registered (FIR number 69/2018 under sections 69/2018, 2/3 E & IMCO and 13 ULA Act) against them and further investigations are under way.
And scores of youth today clashed with the security forces during two separate search operations at two villages of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
Security forces this afternoon laid a siege around the Tekkipora and Ronipora villages following inputs about the presence of militants in these villages. As soon as the security forces started door to door searches, scores of villagers, especially youth, pelted stones on them to hamper the operations. Security forces responded by firing teargas to disperse the protesters. The operation was later called off.
