3 held with narcotics

UDHAMPUR, Aug 30: Udhampur Police arrested three drug peddlers and seized narcotics from their possession.
Police said that 140 grams of opium was recovered from two narcotic smugglers arrested at Tikri while 31 grams Heroin was seized from another drug peddler, who was arrested at Billan Bowli, Link Road, Udhampur.
Police party of PP Tikri, led by SHO Rehambal Nishant Gupta and assisted by Jaswinder Singh, IC PP Tikri, laid a naka at Tikri and intercepted one Maruti car bearing Registration number JK14C- 4941.
During checking, 140 grms of opium was recovered from the driver and his associate, identified as Makhan Lal, son of Gian Chand of Manthal, Udhampur and Abhishek Gupta son of Kewal Gupta of Chabutra Bazar, Udhampur.
Both of them were arrested on the spot while the drugs as well as the car were also seized. In this connection, a case FIR number 191/2021, under section 8/17 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile a police patrolling party of PS Udhampur, led by SHO Chaman Gorka, under the supervision of Sahil Mahajan, DySP Hqrs, apprehended a suspect near Billan Bowli Link Road and during his search, 31 grams of Heroin like substance was recovered from his possession.
The accused was identified as Altaf Hussain, son of Nazir Ahmed of Dhandal, Ramnagar, Udhampur.
In this connection, a case FIR number 331/2021, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Udhampur and further investigation is underway.
