JAMMU, Jan 4: Three volunteers from Gandhi Global Family (GGF) were awarded today by IGP, Jammu Zone, Danesh Rana, at a function held at Institute of Engineers in Gandhi Nagar.
The awardees included Manish Joshi, Aprajit Singh Jamwal and Ghulam Mohd Khan Aryan.
Danesh Rana was the chief guest on this occasion and Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, OP Sharma, presided over the programme where as president, All J&K SC/ST/OBC Confeder-ation, RK Kalsotra, was the special guest.
In his welcome address, Padamshri SP Varma, GGF vice president, highlighted the achievements of the organization in the year 2015. He also informed about the ongoing programs with the United Nations and other organizations across 45 different nations.
Danesh Rana in his speech emphasized on the role of the civil society in bringing about a positive change. He advised the GGF to collaborate with J&K Police in helping eradicate the menace of drug addiction from the State.
Earlier, GGF State committee announced volunteers of the 2015 award for Abdul Ahad Najar, Balbir Singh, Manish Joshi, Aprajit Singh Jamwal and Ghulam Mohd Khan Aryan. GGF named five awardees (two each from Kashmir and Jammu and one from Ladakh), totally based upon their contribution towards the objectives of GGF.
These awardees played vital role in commencing symposiums, organizing peace talks, coordinating national summits and streamlining Gandhi Mandela Cricket series in the year 2015.
Prominent amongst those present were Abdul Majid Bichoo, Soba Ram, Azhar, Riaz Shah, Gurmeet Singh, Amit Kumar, Abida Hasan War, Tariq Bhat, CD Magotra, Prof Ashiq Malik, BL Bharadwaj, Rahul Gupta and Vishal Basotra.
