Srinagar, Jan 6: Police today said they have arrested three gamblers and a bootlegger in South Kashmir.
A police spokesman said the gamblers identified as Javid Ahmad Itoo of Chawalgam, Mubarak Ahmad Rather of Chancer and Nisar Ahmad Ganei of Damhal were arrested in Kulgam while gambling at a public place.
“Police recovered stake money Rs 9,600 and a set of playing card from the gambling spot. A case FIR number 05/2015 under Section 13 Gambling Act was registered against the gamblers in Police Station Kulgam,” the spokesman said.
He said a bootlegger, Ghulam Rasool Bhat alias Chack son of Mohammad Subhan Bhat of YK Pora was arrested in Qazigund and 2800 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from him when he transporting them in his vehicle.
“A case FIR 03/2015 under Section 50 Excise Act was registered in Police Station Qazigund & investigation has been taken up,” he said.
