3-drug peddlers booked, property attached in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, May 26: Continuing its crackdown against drugs under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, police today attached property of a drug peddler in Anantnag and intensified anti-drug operations in Baramulla and Shopian districts by destroying illegal poppy cultivation and booking three habitual drug peddlers under the PIT NDPS Act.
A Police spokesperson said that Srinagar Police attached a residential house worth around Rs. 1 crore belonging to Aamir Hassan Mir of Bonpora Dupatyar, Bijbehara, in connection with FIR No. 17/2026 under the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Shergari, Srinagar. The attachment was carried out under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act after completion of legal formalities in the presence of the Executive Magistrate 1st Class, Bijbehara.
In Baramulla, police destroyed illegal poppy cultivation at Braripora village falling under Police Station Bijhama and registered FIR No. 04/2026 under relevant sections of law. The operation was conducted jointly with the Agriculture Department and in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
In Shopian, police teams from Police Station Heerpora and Police Station Imamsahib, along with Revenue officials, destroyed illegal poppy cultivation in Saidpora Bala and Kiloora Imamsahib areas. FIR No. 41/2026 and FIR No. 38/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation has been taken up.
The spokesperson further said that Shopian Police also booked three habitual drug peddlers under the PIT NDPS Act. The accused were identified as Hilal Ahmad Bhat of Daramdora Keegam, Mohd Yousuf Bhat of Vishroo Payeen and Pervaiz Ahmad Thoker of Pudsoo Shopian. The detention orders were issued by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, and the accused have been lodged in different jails outside the district.
