3 drug peddlers arrested with contraband

Srinagar, Jan 30: Police today said to have arrested 3 drug peddlers from Anantnag Handwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In Anantnag, as per police, a police party from PS Mattan at a checkpoint established at Bumzu Mattan intercepted two persons identified as Fayaz Ahmad Wani son of Gh Nabi Wani resident of Khanwadi Mattan and Wajid Ahmad Paddar son of Bashir Ahmed Paddar resident of Bumzu Mattan.
“During the search, 16 Codeine phosphate bottles and 75 strips of Spasmoproxyvon tablets were recovered from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
Similarly, police said, in Handwara, officers from Police Station Kralagund at a checkpoint established at Ganapora Crossing intercepted a person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Malik son of Ab Aziz resident of Drangsoo Qalamabad who was moving in a suspicious condition.
“During checking, a huge quantity of contraband tablets were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to the police station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Police said cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations and further investigation has been initiated.
