3 drug peddlers arrested with poppy straw

JAMMU, Aug 20: Gangyal police under “Operation Sanjeevani” arrested drug peddlers along with 25 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station raised a check point at Kunjwani Chowk and asked three pedestrians to stop as they were trying to hide themselves from the cops.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrians tried to escape, but failed as the active cops intercepted them after a brief chase.
During checking, police recovered 25 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Muzamil Ahmed Rathar, son of Mubarak Ahmed Rathar and Adil Gulzar, son of Mohammad Amin, both residents of District Kulgam and Paramjeet, son of Surinder Pal, a resident of Punjab.
During questioning, they disclosed that they had brought the consignment from Srinagar and were about to sell it among the youth to make them drug addicts.
With the arrest of drug peddlers, police achieved a major success to save the youth from falling victims of drug abuse.
A case under FIR Number 60/17 under Section 8/15 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammad Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
