JAMMU, Sept 16: Three persons died in separate incidents while as seven persons were injured in road accidents.
Police spokesman said that one Harbans Lal, son of Khajur Chand fell to death from the rooftop of floor mill at Deoli under the jurisdiction of Bishnah Police Station. The critically injured Harbans was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital where he was pronounced as brought dead by the doctors.
Police has taken cognizance of the incident and started inquest proceedings in this regard.
According to the spokesman, a woman died after she allegedly consumed poisonous substance at her residence at Chak Balayal in Akhnoor tehsil.
The incident took place this morning when Daljeet Kaur, wife of Rajinder Singh was found unconscious at her residence. She was immediately rushed to hospital where doctors provided her stomach wash treatment. However, she died after sometime.
Though husband of the deceased and other members of his family alleged that Daljeet Kaur consumed some poison under mysterious circumstances yet Amrik Singh, father of the deceased alleged that Daljeet was compelled to take this extreme step by her in-laws for want of dowry.
Following the death of Daljeet, her family members held protest demonstration in the hospital premises for brief period.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation to ascertain the cause that compelled Daljeet to take this extreme step.
The spokesman said that one person died of electrocution while as another sustained severe burn injuries near Jaganoo Morh in Udhampur district.
He said that Subash Chander, son of Jagat Ram of Sunthan and Ravi Kumar, son of Krishan Chand of Jaganoo sustained severe electric shock while working in Jaganoo area. They were immediately rushed to hospital by contractor himself.
In the hospital, Subash Chander was pronounced as brought dead while as condition of Ravi Kumar was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
Meanwhile, four persons were injured when a Xylo vehicle, they were traveling in from Jammu towards Srinagar, met with an accident at Nagrota.
The injured have been identified as Girdhari Lal, son of Roop Chand, Anshu, son of Dev Raj, Sumit Singh, son of Dewan Chanb, all the residents of Kishtwar and Ram Chand, son of Ram Shankar of Patna.
In another accident, two persons namely Vijay Kumar, son of Badri Nath and Pardeep Kumar, son of Hem Raj Sharma, both the residents of Chopra Shop sustained injuries when their Maruti car bearing registration number JK14B-9295 collided with parapet near Chopra Shop.
They were immediately rushed to District Hospital and their condition was stated to be out of danger when reports last came in.
The spokesman said that a woman namely Reeta Devi, wife of Ved Lal of Khalini, Doda also sustained injuries in collision between a car and a bus at T-Morh, Udhampur.
