3-day ‘Panch Pran Utsav’ at JU from tomorrow

JAMMU, Apr 3: The University of Jammu, in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, Hindustan Samachar and Cluster University of Jammu, is organizing three-day mega event on the five resolves (Panch Pran) announced by Prime Minister Narender Modi during his 76th Independence day address to the nation.
While sharing this information during a presser, here today, Vice-Chancellor JU, Prof Umesh Rai said that the mega event is going to be held with effect from 5th to 7th April 2023 in the University of Jammu.
“The Panch Pran Utsav will be inaugurated by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Ajay Kumar Singh, Press Secretary to President of India will deliver the keynote Address on inaugural day on 5th April,” said Prof Rai, who was accompanied by Prof Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts and Brajesh Jha, Executive Editor, Hindustan Samachar.
The event will cover the lectures by the prominent experts, showcasing of documentaries and exhibition of cultural heritage.
Pertinent to mention that PM Modi’s five resolutions include; resolve to move the country ahead as a developed India; erase all traces of servitude; be proud of India’s heritage and legacy; strength of unity and solidarity and duties of citizens towards the nation.
Prof Umesh Rai said that the University of Jammu has already taken initiatives to acquaint the students with the rich heritage of India. He drew attention towards the paradigm shift from job seeker to job provider model being adopted by the University as well as the launch of first of its kind of innovate program “Design your Degree” for undergraduate students which will give them complete academic freedom to design their degree, keeping in mind their interests and inclinations.
University has also established a centre for Gandhian Studies for Peace and Conflict Studies which shall promote experiential learning and shall include workshops and internships. A smart ashram is also being envisaged on Gandhi philosophy.
Prof Naresh Padha, Dean Academic Affairs; Prof Arvind Jasrotia, Registrar JU; Prof Prakash Antahal, Dean Student Welfare; Prof Satnam Kour, Convenor, Press and Publicity Committee were also present in the press conference.
