SRINAGAR : Twenty-nine residents of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here while nine Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947 due to partition.
As many as 20 returnees also crossed sides at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post on this side of the LoC in Uri sector, official sources told here today.
They said 29 PoK residents, including 11 women and two children, arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, peace bridge on foot.
Four Kashmiris, two of them women, who had gone to PoK in previous bus also returned to their homes after completing stay with their relatives, separated in 1947. They said nine residents of Kashmir, including three women and two children, crossed over to other side of LoC in the Karvan-e-Aman bus, operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad, capital of POK.
Sources said 16 POK residents, who had arrived here in previous weekly buses also returned to their homes after completing stay in the valley.
The bus service, introduced on April 7, 2005 has helped thousands of divided families to meet each other after India and Pakistan agreed to allow travel of state subjects on Travel Permits instead of passport. (UNI)
