29 bovine animals rescued, 2 smugglers arrested

SAMBA, May 7: Samba and Ghagwal Police rescued 29 bovine animals and arrested two bovine smugglers during two different nakas at two different places falling under jurisdiction of Samba and Ghagwal police stations.
A Police party of PS Samba while on patrolling duty apprehended two bovine smugglers namely Mohd. Sharief S/o Gullu Gujjar R/o Doda and Miyan S/o Gulab Din R/o Kathua from Rehiyan, Samba and rescued 17 bovines from their possession when they were trying to smuggle on foot. The smugglers were arrested on the spot and all the bovines were rescued.
In this regard a case FIR No. 121/2018 U/S 188/RPC, has been registered at P/S Samba and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a police party of PS Ghagwal foiled a bovine smuggling bid and rescued 12 bovines. According to reports a party of PS Ghagwal headed by Inspector Amit Andotra, SHO Ghagwal under the close supervision of Deepak Digra, Dy.SP Hqrs Samba, during naka checking at NHW Tapyal, signalled a truck bearing registration No. JK02AK- 9915 to stop, which was coming from Kathua side.
The driver on seeing the Police Party accelerated the speed of vehicle and tried to escape from the spot. But after being chased by the police, the driver abandoned the vehicle at NHW Ghagwal and managed to escape from the spot. During checking of the vehicle, 12 bovine animals were found laden inside the vehicle which was being transported illegally without any permission. The vehicle was seized on spot and the bovines were rescued. In this regard a case FIR No. 72/2018 U/S 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act, 177/184 MV Act, has been registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation started to nab the driver.
The said bovine smuggling bid was foiled by a police team headed by Inspector Chanchal Singh, SHO Samba under the close supervision of Deepak Digra,Dy.SP Headquarters Samba and under overall supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba.
