UDHAMPUR, Sept 22: Police here today recovered 279 kg Poppy Straw from a truck while its driver managed to give a slip to the cops and escaped from the spot.
Sources informed that a police naka party at Zero Morh, Chenani asked a truck to stop but its driver abandoned the vehicle bearing registration number JK22-1433 at roadside and fled away.
During the checking of the vehicle cops found 279 kg Poppy Straw and the vehicle was seized.
In this connection, a case in FIR number 80/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
Police has launched a manhunt to arrest the driver.
