SRINAGAR, Nov 2: Chairman of an unregistered private school has been arrested after 26 students of the school could not appear in the 10th class examination in north Kashmir district of Bandipora on Thursday.
Minister for Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari took strong cognizance of a case involving befooling the students by a private education institution in Bandipora district and has advised Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bandipora to take stern action against the erring management of the Institution.
The action was taken in response to a protest by some students of Noorani Educational Trust Sumbal Bandipora who alleged that J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) has not issued admit cards in their favour for enabling them to appear in the annual matriculation examination that started today.
Bukhari sought an explanation from the BOSE authorities who clarified that the institution is neither affiliated with the board nor has approached for deposition of R.R Forms and examination forms of the candidates and thereby has put the career of such candidates at risk which warrants action against the erring persons under rules.
Taking strong note of issue, the Minister advised the SSP Bandipora to thoroughly probe the matter and take stern action against the management of Noorani Educational Trust.  He said that it was a case of cheating and opined that strict action as per rules should be initiated in this case.
Director School Education Dr G N Itoo has directed the Chief Education Officer Bandipora to formally lodge a complaint against the management of Noorani Educational Trust for cheating and playing with the career of students.
Meanwhile, Bukhari has appealed the parents to ascertain the credentials of private educational institutions before getting their wards admitted in such schools.  He asked the BOSE authorities to come to the rescue of students and find out ways so that the career and precious time of students is saved.
BOSE has assured the Minister that all possible steps will be taken in this regard after thorough analysis as per Board norms.
Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora said chairman of the school has been arrested.
He assured that students will be allowed to appear in the bi-annual examination.
