UDHAMPUR, Apr 26: Udhampur Police today recovered 25 kg poppy straw (Bhukki) from a vehicle, which was seized near Jakhani on the National Highway.
Acting on reliable information, a Police party led by SI Ved Parkash, intercepted a load carrier bearing registration number PB08CH-3826 at Jakhani Chowk. During checking, Police recovered 25 Kg poppy straw from the vehicle.
Police seized the poppy straw and arrested driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Dharam Pal son of Milkhi Ram of Sangwal Jalandhar Punjab. He was transporting the contraband from Kashmir valley towards Jammu and then to Punjab.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 187/2017 has been registered under relevant sections of law in Police Station Udhampur. Police also seized vehicle. During investigation the accused disclosed that he has purchased the narcotics from Bijbehara Kashmir. Further investigation of the case is going on.
