24 JKAP IR organises drug awareness programme

UDHAMPUR, May 21: A large-scale Nasha Mukht Abhiyan Awareness Programme along with an eye check-up and medical camp was organized today at Shaheed Inspector Shri Kamal Singh Model Boys Higher Secondary School, Udhampur.
The programme was spearheaded under the leadership of Commandant 24 JKAP IR, Sandeep Mehta. The event was organized in collaboration with J&K Blood Donors Association, Chief Education Office Udhampur, Chief Medical Officer Udhampur, Rotary ENT Hospital Udhampur, and Modern Dogra Nukkad Natak Team Udhampur. The awareness programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, medical professionals, and civil society representatives.
Resource persons including Dr Anil Saloch from the CMO Office, Counsellor Devika Sharma, and Principal Manoj Kumar Jad addressed the gathering on the serious health and social consequences of drug abuse and emphasized the importance of mental and physical well-being among youth.
A powerful anti-drug skit performance presented by the Modern Dogra Nukkad Natak Team formed one of the major highlights of the programme. Sports kits were also distributed among students in collaboration with the J&K Blood Donors Association.
Addressing the gathering, Commandant and CO 24 JKAP IR, Sandeep Mehta stated that the fight against drugs cannot be won by any single agency alone and requires collective responsibility and public participation. He emphasized that saying no to drugs, staying alert, and actively supporting anti-drug efforts is a community-driven mission in which parents, teachers, youth, police, and civil society must work together unitedly to safeguard future generations. He further stressed that the menace of drug abuse is deeply linked to the nefarious activities of drug lords, peddlers, and other anti-social elements who deliberately target the youth, and that a firm and united stand against such criminal networks is essential to protect society and ensure the safety and bright future of the coming generations.
An eye check-up and medical screening camp was also inaugurated during the programme by Commandant Sandeep Mehta, Dy Commandant Nihar Ranjan and Principal Manoj Kumar Jad for the benefit of students and participants.
Sandeep Mehta also personally visited the medical and eye check-up camp during the programme and interacted with students, medical teams, and participants present at the venue.
