JAMMU, Dec 25: Police today rescued 22 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from police station Ghagwal headed by SHO Inspector Anu Kumar Sharma under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SSP Samba laid a naka at Jatwal and intercepted Mahindra load carrier bearing registration number JK08C-8749 and truck bearing registration number JK02AG-5095.
During checking, 18 bovine animals were rescued, which were being transported illegally without permission from Kathua to Jammu.
Two bovine smugglers identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan of Badyal Brahamna and Fayaz Ahmed, son of Ghulam Ali of Ragoora were arrested.
A case under FIR number 106/13 under Section 188 RPC, 2/3 PC Act, 184 MV Act has been registered at Police Station Ghagwal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Khour police today rescued 4 bovine animals and arrested three smugglers.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Khour police station laid a naka at Dhangri and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK11-1006.
Police rescued four bovine animals during search of the vehicles, which the smugglers, were trying to smuggle from Jammu to Rajouri.
Bovine smugglers identified as Mohammad Asif, son of Tofail of Thandi Kassi, district Rajouri, Yassar, son of Mohammad Sharif of Mainnar, district Rajouri and Kali Dass, son of Sansar Chand of Datial, tehsil Akhnoor were arrested.
A case under FIR number 88/13 under Section 188 RPC has been registered at Khour police station and investigation started.
