200 NPP workers detained during protest over AIIMS

SAMBA, July 30:   Over two hundred NPP workers were detained during protest over the issue of AIIMS here today.
As a part of its `Jail Bharo’ programme, the NPP workers under the leadership of Harshdev Singh and Yashpal Kundal assembled  at district headquarters here and held strong protest rally.
The rally initially started from the Panthers Party headquarters at Samba and after passing through various lanes and markets, it was stopped by the police at  main chowk.  The protestors expressing their acrimony over the Saffron party playing the politics of deceit, duplicity and betrayal raised slogans of- “BJP MLA s …Resign Karo, Resign Karo”, “Dokha-Dhadi Ki Rajneeti…Nahin Chalegi,Nahin Chalegi”, …. “Jammu ka AIIMS… Jammu ko Do” and “BJP… Hai Hai”.  The police arrested over 200 Panthers activists including Harshdev Singh and Yashpal Kundal and detained them in the District Police Lines, Samba who were released later.
Harshdev  while courting arrest alleged that the BJP is playing the politics of bluff  with the people of Jammu region to create  illusions on AIIMS to sabotage and scuttle the uprising mass agitation for the restoration of premier health edifice in the region.  He maintained that the recent statements by the Jammu based BJP leaders who have flown to New Delhi to announce the establishment of AIIMS is nothing but another deceitful and wicked tactics to take the wind out of the sails of the resistance movement launched by the people of Jammu region.
He alleged that BJP has been exposed for its political incompetence and fragility and exhorted the people not to get trapped in the woven web of spurious and fake promises doled out to the people by the Saffron party and urged the people to carry forward the agitation to its logical conclusion for the Dogra pride and honour.
He disclosed that prestigious AIIMS project can only be established in Jammu region after its approval in the Union Cabinet followed by the official publication of the notification in the Gazette of India.  Harshdev described the present civil unrest as the manifestation of public anger, aversion and revulsion against the BJP’s betrayals which have assumed alarming proportions.
Yashpal Kundal while addressing the gathering asserted that the BJP’s credibility has immensely dissipated with the Saffron party losing ground in its constituency for backstabbing the people of Jammu region.  He asserted that the Panthers Party which is the sole and genuine voice of Jammu stands committed for restoring the Dogra pride and honour at all costs and maintained that it shall politically decimate the Saffron brigade on every act of betrayal, deceit and duplicity.
