JAMMU, May 14: Police today rescued 20 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers in Nagrota area of the winter capital.
Police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Nagrota police station led by SHO OP Chib under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary, laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02W-3833.
During checking, police recovered 20 bovine animals and arrested five smugglers, who were identified as Ghulam Nabi, Mohd Gazi, Shabir Ahmed and Mohd Qayoom all residents of Khanpur and Mohd Iqbal, resident of Kulgam, Srinagar, he added.
A case under Section 188 RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation into the case is going on.
