2 youth killed in road accidents

KATHUA, Oct 15: In two tragic hit and run accidents a motorcycle borne youth and a pedestrian were killed at Hatli Morh after they were knocked down by two speedy vehicles on Jammu -Pathankot National Highway within the duration of 15 to 20 minutes tonight.
According to reports, one youth identified as Vikas, 26, son of Tilak Raj of Sawan Chak Kathua who was riding on his bike died, after his two -wheeler was hit by a speedy truck which fled after the accident taking the advantage of darkness. He was brought to the Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) Kathua where doctors declared him as brought dead. Reports said that after seeing the accident some passers by called the police and shifted him to GMCH Hospital Kathua.
The another youth who was walking by foot was also hit by another speedy vehicle in the same area just within 15 to 20 minutes after the first accident and the vehicle also fled taking the advantage of darkness leaving the youth in a pool of blood. He has been identified as Ashish Kumar, 18, son of Rajeev resident of CTM Colony Kathua.
The motorcycle has also been totally damaged in the accident. Soon after hearing the news of the accident the family members and relatives of two youth rushed to GMC Hospital, Kathua in panic and after knowing that both the youth have died they lodged a strong protest in the Hospital premises.
The truck involved in the accident fled from the spot taking the advantage of darkness. The Hatli Morh Police Post has registered a case under the relevant sections of the law and started investigation.
The dead bodies of the youth will be handed over to their respective families after post mortem tomorrow.
