SAMBA, Apr 25: Samba police has achieved a major success under the overall supervision of SSP Samba, Benam Tosh and arrested 11 bovine smugglers including two females, foiled major bovine smuggling attempt at mid-night, seized five trucks and rescued 54 bovine animals.
The arrested bovine smugglers have been identified as Bahar Ahmed Sohail son of, Ghulam Mohammad Iqbal of Banihal district Ramban, Mohammad. Riyaz son of Mohammad Iqbal of Samba, Irshad Ahmed son of Mohammad Yaqoob of Larnoo, Anantnag, Liaqat Ali, son of Nazir Ahmed of Suchetgarh district Jammu, Asif Ali Chowan, son of Farooq Ahmed of Anantnag at present Krimnchi Udhampur, Anwar Hussain, son of Malik Hussain of R.S.Pura Kadyal Jammu, Saleema, wife of Mohd Hussain of Kathua presently at Samba, Veena wife of Mukhtyar Ali of Kathua presently at Samba, Mohammad Veer, son of Mohammad Bashir of Nawa Shehr, Punjab presently at Sunkhal Dinga Amb, Kathua, Talib Hussain, son of Showkat Ali of Larnoo Anantang and Yasir Ali, son of Liyakat Ali of Larnoo, Anantnag.
Seven separate FIRs have been registered at two police stations viz PS Samba through PP Supwal, PP Mansar, PP Rakh Amb Talli and PS Ghagwal through PP Rajpura and investigation is underway.
The arrested bovine smugglers belong to R.S. Pura and Suchetgarh Jammu, Anantnag, Punjab, Kathua, Banihal Ramban, Krimnchi Udhampur, Samba and are professional bovine smugglers who used to smuggle bovines from different areas of Jammu, Kathua and Samba towards Kashmir Valley adopting different routes & different modus operandi to dodge police.
The arrests have been made by the teams comprising of SHO Police Station Samba Rajeshwar Singh, SHO Police Station Ghagwal Bharat Bhushan, Incharge Police Post Mansar Deepak Sharma, in charge Police Post Supwal Divya Bharti, in charge Police Post, Rakh Amb Talli, Vineet Singh and in charge Police Post, Rajpura Sudhir Singh Charak under the supervision of DySP Garu Ram and Additional SP Samba Surinder Choudhary.
Senior Superintendent of Police Benam Tosh said that total 47 notorious bovine smugglers have been arrested by Samba Police in three months, 44 FIRs have been registered, 35 vehicles used for bovine smuggling seized and 467 bovine animals have been rescued.
