2 vehicles with 23 bovines seized

RAJOURI, June 16: In two separate bovines smuggling attempts, the police seized two vehicles and rescued 23 cattle being smuggled to Kashmir during last night.
Official sources said that during intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, a police team headed by Station House Officer Thanamandi, Fareed Ahmed under the supervision of Sub Divisional Police Officer Thanamandi, Sajjad Khan during patrolling intercepted a mini-truck JK14C /1613 but driver of the vehicle didn’t obey and fled from the spot.
Sensing suspicion, police team started to chase the vehicle and found it parked at roadside at some distance with driver of the vehicle managed to flee from the spot.
During frisking, 15 bovines were found loaded in the mini-truck which were rescued and vehicle seized.
A case FIR No. 112/2020 has been registered in Thanamandi Police Station .
Meanwhile, another police team from Kalakote led by Sajay Raina, during patrolling in the area during wee hours on Monday noticed Tata Mobile, No. JK11B- 3316 and signaled to stop but driver tried to flee the spot.
Police chased the vehicle and found eight animals loaded in it. The driver, police said escaped from the spot but nabbed after hot chase. He was identified as Mohd Bashir, son of Nek Mohammad, resident of Sialsui in Kalakote.
All the bovines were rescued and a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in this connection.
