JAMMU, Apr 13: Two Revenue officials and a Numberdar have been arrested by Thannamandi police while FIR registered against the then Tehsildar Thannamandi and a Girdawar for illegally allotting prime Government land worth lakhs near revenue complex at Thannamandi town to a local Numberdar.
On the directions of the local court at Thannamandi, SDPO S K Bhagat conducted through inquiry into the case and presented report to the judge. The court directed the police to register an FIR against all the Revenue officials involved in illegal allotment of Government land.
Accordingly, the police registered a case FIR No. 41/2014 against the then Tehsildar Thannamandi, Sunil Kumar ( now posted in Kathua as Dy Director Employment) and Girdawar Wajid Hussain posted in Thannamandi. The police has started manhunt for both the revenue officials.
Three others arrested by police for committing fraud and allotting Government land are Patwari Mohd Azam, Office Kanoongo Mohd Asif and Numberdar Bader Hussain. They were arrested by police last evening.
The police said during investigation it was found that Bader Hussain and his brother Munshi Khan had illegally encroached upon around 7 marla Government land on the main road just closer to revenue complex. Bader Hussain, managed registration of the Government land on his own name in connivance with the Revenue officials. His brother when came to know about it, he moved an application in the office of Tehsildar but could not get any justice. He approached court and the judge asked SDPO to find out the status of the land and file report.
The SDPO Thannamandi, Mr Bhagat established the connivance of the Revenue officials in the allotment of Government land to a local illegally. The court taking serious note of the incident directed police to register accused persons and file challan against them. The land allotment is also being cancelled.
