2 minor mentally challenged girls reunited with kin

JAMMU, Aug 18: Child Welfare Committee Jammu helped a 15 year old mentally challenged girl reunite with her family yesterday. The girl was found on the Railway Station on August 5, due to her incapacity to tell about her whereabouts, she was placed in a children’s home by the CWC.
Subsequently, the girl was counselled and on the basis of inputs provided by her, they contacted CWC Sim Dega, Jharkhand. The latter contacted the girl’s father, who told the officials that his daughter was missing for the past one and a half year. Due to steady efforts by CWC and Child Help Desk,Railways the father was brought to Jammu from Jharkhand and the girl was reunited with her family.
In another case, a mentally challenged minor girl was found by the police party of Channi Himmat PS and was presented before CWC for shelter and upon getting her medical test done, she was found COVID positive. The girl was also unable to share any details about herself.
She was admitted in children hospital, Gandhi Nagar and. upon recovery, she was produced before the CWC Bench and the only details she remembered was that she stays behind the DC office.
The SHO of that area was contacted to find if any such cases of similar nature has been reported and subsequently, the girl’s family was found who informed that the girl was missing since past 7 days.
With the personal efforts of Shalini Sharma, chairperson CWC Jammu and members CWC Jammu, both the minor girls were successfully reunited with their kin.
