2 live mortar shells recovered

RAJOURI, Apr 28: Two live mortar shells were recovered from Thanna Mandi area of district Rajouri while an old grenade was defused by Army in Budhal area.
A police spokesman said that a villager noticed two live 81 mm motor shells lying in the field in Bhati Dhar area of Thana Mandi this morning and informed local police. The police then contacted an Army unit. The armymen rushed to the site and then defused these shells.
Meanwhile, a live old grenade was recovered by a farmer from his fields while ploughing at Dandot village in Budhal today. They contacted Budhal police which reached the spot and later defused the grenade. A possible tragedy was averted with the alertness of the farmer Mohd Reyaz.
