JAMMU, Apr 28: All-rounder Janu’s quick-fire 82 runs and 2 crucial wickets helped Galaxy Cricket Club to script a big win over star-studded Ishar Cricket Club to advance in the ongoing Baisakhi Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Diamond Cricket Club at Boys High School, Simbal Camp, near here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Galaxy Cricket Club scored a modest total of 133 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Janu played a brilliant innings of 82 runs off just 48 deliveries, studded with 10 fours and 3 sixes, while Raman and Waris contributed 22 and 12 runs respectively. For Ishar Cricket Club, young off-spinner, Pavit Singh Ishar was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 20 runs in his 4 overs, while Sunny and Sourab Chopra claimed 2 wickets each and Deepak Dogra one.
In reply, Ishar Club bundled out for 103 runs in 18 overs, thus lost the match by 30 runs. Paras Sharma was the top scorer with 21 runs, while Somay Jain and Deepak Dogra contributed 15 and 14 runs to the total respectively. Gurpreet was the pick of the bowlers for Galaxy Club, claiming 3/13 in his 4 overs. Janu took 2 wickets by conceding just 7 runs in his 3 overs, while Raman and Malkeet bagged one wicket each. Janu was declared man of the match for his splendid all-round show.
Naib Sarpanch, Harvinder Singh Kuku was the chief guest on the occasion, while the tournament is being held under the supervision of organizing secretary, GS Michael.
The match was officiated by Kulbir Singh and Harcharan Babloo as umpires, while Swarn Singh was the scorer.
