Srinagar, Mar 28: Police today arrested two Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) from Pattan area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district who were tasked to recruit young boys and provide logistics to LeT cadres in the area.

Police said that they received a reliable information that Showkat Ahmed Mir son of Nazir Ahmed Mir resident of Wussan and Showkat Ahmed Yatoo son of Mohammad Akbar Yatoo, resident of Chanderhama are providing all logistic support to Saleem Parrey of Hajin and Abu Zargam of Pakistan.
They said that acting on the information a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF apprehended both of them. A case (FIR No 51/ 20 U/S 18,18B, 19,20,39 ULA(P) Act) was lodged in Police Station Pattan against them.
Police said that on preliminary questioning it came to surface that Showkat Ahmad Mir son of Nazir Ahmed Mir alias Showkat Moulvi, resident of Wussan in Pattan was previously also booked and presently he was an active member of Lashkar. “He along with Showkat Ahmad Itoo of Chanderhama were assigned the job of transporting Lashkar cadre from one place to another besides providing shelter”, police said.
“Moreover they were also assigned the job of recruiting young locals of Pattan area in to Lashkar and recent missing boys of Wussan and Andergam were recruited by them. Their modus operandi was sending boys to Pakistan on valid documents where in they were trained and on their return they were provided weapons”, police said.
They added that they disclosed that they had some arms and ammunition which they had to provide to Abu Zargam which was also recovered by security forces.
