2 killed, DySP Civil Defence among 8 hurt in road mishaps

JAMMU, Oct 3: Two persons were killed, while 8 others including DySP Civil Defence were injured in road mishaps.
Police spokesman said that, two persons were killed, when the truck they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a nallah at Sherbibi, under the jurisdiction of Banihal Police Station.
He said that driver of FCI ration loaded truck failed to negotiate the sharp curve, resulting into the accident.
The bodies of both the deceased identified as Naranjan Singh and Harvinder Singh, resident of Dolenagral Amritsar were shifted to Sub-District Hospital, Banihal, while, a case has been registered at Banihal Police Station.
In another incident, seven persons including DySP Civil Defence were injured in head-on collision between two cars at Kainthpur, Thandi Khuei, under the jurisdiction of Vijaypur Police Station.
Santro car bearing registration number PB38A-4658 on his way to Amritsar from Jammu collided with Zen car bearing registration number JK02AJ-5958 stranded on roadside, leading to injuries to seven persons.
Locals and police rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to Vijaypur Hospital, from where they were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), for specialized treatment.
The injured persons were identified as DySP, Civil Defence, Samba, Sudarshan Mehta, his wife Divya Gupta, both resident of Jammu, driver Darshan Kumar, Sukhdev Raj Sharma, his wife Sunita Sharma, two children Ansh and Nitish, all residents of Akhnoor.
A case has been registered at Vijaypur Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, one person was injured, when the Tavera car (JK03C-2713), he was driving collided with a truck (JK02T-4087) at Tikri.
The injured driver identified as Miraj-u-Din of Srinagar was shifted to PHC Tikri, where he was undergoing treatment, when last reports poured in.
A case under relevant sections has been registered and investigation started.
