2 killed, 4 hurt in mishaps

JAMMU, June 22: Two persons were killed, while four other received serious injuries in road accidents at tehsil Bhaderwah and Rajouri district today.
As per reports, a driver was killed, while two others received serious injuries, when the Maruti van they were traveling in plummeted into a deep gorge near Khani Top on Bhaderwah-Chamba-Himachal Pradesh road.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02AG-6075 failed to negotiate the sharp curve and it plunged into 500 feet deep gorge near Khani Top on Bhaderwah-Chamba-Himachal Pradesh road, resulting into grievous injuries to three persons.
On getting information, police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
All the injured were rushed to Sub-district hospital (SDH) Bhaderwah, where doctors declared driver of the vehicle identified as Abdul Majeed Ganai, son of Mohammad Sultan Ganai of Chinar Mohalla, Bhaderwah as brought dead.
The condition of the injured identified as Shanu, daughter of Menu of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh and Neenu, daughter of Abdul Majeed of Chinar Mohalla Bhaderwah was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
After conducting autopsy, the body was handed over to the family members for last rites.
A case in this regard has been registered at concerned police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, a conductor was killed, while driver received serious injuries, when bus they were traveling in skidded off the road and fell into a gorge near Haya Chashma in Budhal tehsil of Rajouri District. The mishap took place when the driver was negotiating a sharp turn near Haya Chashma in Budhal tehsil of Rajouri district.
On getting information, police rushed to the spot and shifted the body of the deceased and injured to hospital, where the latter identified as Altaf Hussain, 20, son of Mohammad Din, resident of Kundradhan was responding to the treatment, when reports last came in.
The body of the deceased identified as Mohammad Ashraf, 28, son of Gul Mohammad, a resident of Kundradhan, Rajouri was handed over to legal heirs after completing legal formalities.
Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
