2 injured in mysterious car fire

UDHAMPUR, July 14: A young girl among two persons sustained burn injuries after a car, in which they were travelling, caught fire under mysterious circumstances at Kheri near Udhampur, in the wee hours today.
The injured have been admitted in the District Hospital Udhampur and their identity was established as Rita Deuna, daughter of Gopal Deuna, resident of 66/A-III Kalika Gate, New Delhi and Virender Yadav, son of Jagdish Yadav of Hajipur.
The duo told the police that they were hired by an agency for work as domestic help in Kashmir. They had reached Jammu from New Delhi, late last night and hired a car, which was hit by an unidentified truck following which fire broke out, the duo claimed.
Driver of the car had fled the scene leaving both the injured while registration number of the vehicle could not be ascertained because of fire incident.
Police has registered a case in this connection at Udhampur Police Station for investigating the matter.
