2 hybrid militants arrested

Srinagar, May 1: Police today arrested two hybrid militants along with arms and ammunition from Srinagar and Kulgam districts.
A police spokesman said that on a specific input, Srinagar Police and 50-RR of Army arrested a hybrid militant Sheikh Sahid Gulzar of Muchhwa, Budgam from Nowgam, Srinagar.

“Incriminating material including pistol and live ammunition were recovered from him. A case has been registered under relevant Sections”, he said.
Police said that on a specific information, Kulgam police along with 34RR of Army arrested one hybrid militant of LeT identified as Yamin Yousuf Bhat son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat resident of Gadihama.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested hybrid militant was in contact with Pakistan based militants as well as local militants of outfit LeT and was tasked to execute militant incident.
He was also involved in providing shelter, logistics and other support to the militants including transporting of arms/ammunition and explosive material of the militants in district Kulgam.
The spokesman further stated that his arrest is an achievement for police, as he was well aware about the topography of the district and it was easy for him to choose soft targets.
“Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine, 51 rounds of 9 mm and 2 hand grenades were recovered from his possession,” he said.
A case (vide FIR No. 57/2022 under relevant Sections of law) has been registered at Police Station Kulgam and investigation initiated. “More arrests and recoveries are expected in the instant case,” read the statement.
