Srinagar, Apr 5: In a major breakthrough in last week’s attack on BJP leader’s house in Srinagar, police today arrested two girls from Budgam for their alleged involvement in the attack.
A senior police officer told Excelsior that the two girls – Tabasum Maqbool, 22, and Anjum Younis, 23, both residents of Kanihama, Budgam – were arrested for their alleged involvement in the attack on BJP leader’s house. One among the arrested girls is a nursing student and is pursuing her studies in Chadoora area of Budgam.
The two girls were arrested by Police Station Nowgam in connection with a case (FIR number 27/2021 under Sections 307, 302, 392 of IPC and 7/27 of Arms Act) which was registered in connection with the attack on Bhartiya Janta Party leader, Anwar Khan last week.
The officer said that these girls are being questioned.
And in a major success, security forces this evening recovered 15 sticks of plastic explosives in Karnah area of Kupwara district near the Line of Control (LoC).
A Defence spokesman said here that owing to high state of alertness of the Army and police on a specific intelligence input the explosive was recovered.
He said that they received information that explosives are likely to be exchanged near Jama Masjid of Tangdhar.
Security forces increased alertness level and monitored the area through a comprehensive surveillance grid. “This evening at 4.50 pm, a detailed search by the Army Bomb Disposal Team led to recovery of the explosives which was supposedly being transhipped to hinterland”, the spokesman said.
Police today found an Improvised Explosive Device near Khanyar area of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
Police found an IED in a box like object near Khanyar area today around 6 pm.
“Immediately Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot to defuse it,” the officer said.
And police said that in Sopore acting on specific information Sopore Police, 22RR and 179 batallion of CRPF arrested a TRF militant associate near Model Town crossing in Sopore today.
Police said that during checking a TRF associate, Ihsaan-ul-Haq Khanday son of Nazir Ahmad Khanday resident of Faisalabad Sopore was apprehended. “During checking, incriminating material including letter pad of TRF outfit has been recovered from his possession”, Police said.
Police registered a case (FIR No. 82/2021) under relevant Sections of law at police station and further investigation into the case is in progress and it said more arrests are expected.
