Srinagar, June 19: Police today said to have arrested two drug peddlers in Anantnag and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Post Sangam at a checkpoint established on NHW44 intercepted two persons identified as Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Akbar Bhat and Nisar Ahmad Dar son of Gull Mohd Dar both residents of Semthan Bijbehara.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 20Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in two nylon bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to the police station where they remain in custody,” police said.
It also said that on their disclosure, 02 more bags containing 35Kgs of poppy straw have also been recovered from the house of accused Nisar Ahmad Dar in presence of a Magistrate.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 181/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Bijbehara and an investigation has been taken up.
