2 drug peddlers held with contraband

Srinagar, Dec 3: Police in a series of actions in South Kashmir today said to have arrested two drug peddlers including a notorious drug peddler while a huge quantity of contraband substance was also recovered from their possession.
Acting on specific information regarding drug peddling in the Qazigund area, a police party of Police Station Qazigund raided a residential house located at Nussu Badragund. During the raid, the police party recovered a huge quantity of poppy straw, weighing about 100Kgs from the possession of a notorious drug peddler.
“The accused identified as Mohd Amir Ganie son of Mohd Ahsan Ganie, resident of Nussu Badragund, Qazigund has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
In Pulwama, police said, during routine checking at a checkpoint established at Eidgah crossing Pulwama, a police party of Police Station Pulwama intercepted a suspicious person identified as Imran Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat, resident of Sonsamil.
“On his personal search, 10 bottles of codeine phosphate was recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody,” police said.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations and investigations have been taken up.
