KATRA, Oct 13: In a special drive, Katra Police today seized 20 kg poppy straw and arrested two drug peddlers.
Acting on a specific information, Police laid a naka and during checking, a Tevera car JK 02AF-1778 was signaled to stop. However, the said vehicle didn’t stop at naka and subsequently police party chased it and overpowered the driver as well as his associate. During checking, 20 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the vehicle. The accused were identified as Makhan Lal (31), son of Des Raj of Pannassa and Mohd Arif son of Sai Mohd of Seela Reasi.
The arrest was made by SHO Katra, Insp Arvind Sambyal, under the supervision of ASP Katra Naresh Singh and SSP Reasi Tahir Bhat.
In this connection a case FIR number 193/2017 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered and both the persons were taken into custody. ASP Katra has also constituted a special team to workout the nexus of drug peddler in Katra town.
