2 drug peddlers arrested with 1.100 kgs cannabis

RAMBAN, June 21: Banihal police arrested two drug peddlers and recovered 1.100 kilograms cannabis from their possession.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka at T Chowk and asked three pedestrian to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the pedestrians tried to escape, but the cops chased and overpowered two pedestrians.
During checking, police team recovered 1.100 kilograms of cannabis from the possession of the pedestrians and arrested them.
The arrested persons have been identified as Parveez Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman Sheikh of Paristan Tehsil Ukharal District Ramban and Tawkeer Ahmed Bhat, son of Ghulam Bhat of Senabati Tehsil Ukharal District Ramban. The third person namely Mushtaq Ahmed Kotach, son of Ghulam Mohd Kotach of Ukharal District Ramban managed to flee from the spot and efforts for his arrest have been intensified.
During preliminary investigation, the arrested persons disclosed that they had bought the consignment from Kashmir for selling among the youth of Ukharal and Banihal.
A case under FIR Number 84/19 under section 8/20/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Hussain Bukhari made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajjad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Anita Sharma.
