JAMMU, Sept 1: Five persons including two drivers were killed, while 40 others were injured in road accidents at Ramban, Doda, Reasi and Rajouri districts today.
As per police sources, an army vehicle from Srinagar to Udhampur collided head-on with a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK19-0325 near Chamalwas area of District Ramban, resulting into on the spot death of two persons and injuries to five others, who were traveling in the Tata Sumo.

After getting information, police team and locals rushed to the spot and started the rescue operation.
All the injured persons were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal, from where three injured persons were referred to different hospitals in Srinagar.
Bodies of the deceased identified as Manjeet Singh (driver), son of Jagit Ram of Digdol, District Ramban and Nisar Ahmed of Batmaloo, Srinagar have been handed over to family members after completing medical and legal formalities.
The injured have been identified as Mohammad Mukhtar Ahmed (40), son of Abdul Aziz Khan of Karawa Banihal. Irshad Ahmed Najar (31), son of Kazar Mohammad Najar of Pulwama, Mohd Tariq Dar (28), son of Assadulla Dar of Rallu Budgam, Fayaz Ahmed (35), son of Gulam Mohammad of Kupwara and Dilshada Begum (32), wife of Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh of Alinbass Ukhral, Tehsil Pogal Paristan, District Ramban.
A case under FIR Number 138/17 and Sections 279, 337 and 304-A RPC has been registered at police station Banihal and investigations started.
Meanwhile, two persons also lost their lives and five others were seriously injured, when a Tata Sumo they were traveling in plunged into a gorge near Jangalwar village of Tehsil Thathri in Doda district today morning.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-3384 was on its way from Phagsoo village to Thathri, when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle rolled down into gorge at Jangalwar village, causing serious injuries to seven passengers.
Police team and people immediately shifted all the injured passengers to Community Health Centre (CHC) Thathri, where doctors declared two of them as brought dead and also referred two injured persons to District Hospital Doda for advanced treatment.
The deceased have been identified as Ghulam Ali Malik (65) and driver Mohammad Ashraf (32), son of Mohammad Sharief, both residents of Phagsoo.
The injured have been identified as Sadam Hussain, son of Afzal Sheikh, a resident of Nandana, Mohammad Farooq Tantray, son of Jalal Din Tantray, a resident of Khanpura, Shabir Ahmed (32), son of Ghulam Qadir, a resident of Khatara, Touseef Gani, son of Shamas Din, a resident of Jangalwar and Javed Iqbal, son of Abdul Rashied, a resident of Nandana.
A case in this regard has been registered at Thathri police station and investigation started.
In another accident, one person was killed, while his brother got seriously injured, when the Maruti car (JK02N-5413), they were traveling in, skidded of the road and plunged into 100 feet deep gorge at Kundi area, falling under the jurisdiction of Ramban police station.
The deceased has been identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Jan Mohammad, a resident of Kundi, while the injured identified as Mehraj (17), son of Jan Mohd was shifted to District Hospital Ramban, from where he was later referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu for advanced treatment.
Ramban police has taken cognizance in this regard.
In one more accident, nine passengers were injured, when the Trax vehicle bearing registration number JK06 2975 rolled down into gorge at Akhraiee near Khal Jugassar area of Tehsil Gandoh, District Doda.
On getting information, police team and locals rushed to the spot and shifted the injured persons to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Changa from where they were referred to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Gandoh. Four injured persons were later referred to District Hospital Doda for advanced treatment from SDH Gandoh.
The injured persons have been identified as Sapna Devi (35), wife of Balwant Singh of Dichan Nagni, Farooq Ahmad (45), son of Ghulam Hussain of Bhanjar Khal Jugassar, Syed Hussain (16), son of Ashiq Hussain of Khal Jugassar, Sharafat Hussain, son of Akhtar Hussain of Dharwari Gandoh, Mehboob Hussain (24), son of Bilal Hussain of Bhanjar Khal Jugassar, Priti (12), daughter of Balwant Singh of Dichan Nagni Khal Jugassar, Vidya Kumari (18), daughter of Lal Chand of Seru khal Jugassar, Chaman Lal (24), son of Lal Chand of Khal Jugassar and driver of the vehicle Haq Nawaz (25), son of Mohammad Sultan Sheikeh of Kilothran.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Gandoh police station and investigation started.
Thirteen army personnel of 110 TA-Madras Unit, were injured when their patrolling vehicle rolled down in a deep gorge near Dhansar Baba at Karua village on Katra-Reasi road, this morning in District Reasi.
The injured were rushed to Katra Hospital from where three of them were later referred to Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal for advanced treatment and others to the Military Hospital Udhampur.
The injured, referred to Narayana Hospital were identified as Raja, Mutu Raj, son of Rama Krishanan of Tamil Nadu and Justin, son of John of Andhra Pradesh.
Those shifted to Military Hospital Udhampur, were identified as V Pandi, son of Palansami of Tamil Nadu, Nag Raj, son Ranjan of Tamil Nadu, Raja, son of Thirupathi of Tamil Nadu, Dinesh Kumar, son of Subramaniam of Tamil Nadu, Ramu, son of Raja Manik of Tamil Nadu, Mutu Vignesh, son of Mutu Pandi of Tamil Nadu, Prithvi Paul, son of Ram Sanjivan of Tamil Nadu, Parkash Maiti, son of Harinder Nath of West Bengal, C Bastin, son of Chinnapp of Tamil Nadu and Mutu Krishnan son of Sulamaniam of Tamil Nadu.
Reasi police has taken cognizance in this regard.
In another incident, seven persons were injured in collision between Wagon-R car (JK02BL-9031) and Tavera car (JK11B-0198) at Dheri Ralyote area in District Rajouri.
The injured persons identified as Sanjeet Sharma, son of Mulkh Raj, Anu Sharma, wife of Sangeet Sharma, Karan Sharma, son of Sanjeet Sharma, Vishal Sharma, son of Chaman La, Salima Bi, wife of Khadim, Shokat Ali, son of Mohammad Shakeel and Janti Kousar, daughter of Mohammad Shakeel, all resident of Tehsil Mendhar were shifted to Primary health Centre (PHC) Manjakote, where their condition was stated to be stable, when reports last came in.
A case in this regard has been registered at Manjakote police station and investigation started.
