2 cops injured as driver of seized tipper hits several vehicles

JAMMU, Oct 11: Two cops were injured when the driver hit seized tipper with several vehicles in Vikas Nagar area of Sarwal here before ramming it into water tank.
As per reports, during checking, a team from Sarwal Police Post seized a tipper carrying illegal mining material (sand) near Vikas Nagar late last night.
The driver and two cops were shifting the seized vehicle to Police Post Sarwal, when the former drove the vehicle rashly and hit three vehicles before ramming into a water tank.
In the incident, Constable Mushtaq Ahmed and SgCt Mohammad Azeem received injuries and were shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu from where former was shifted to a hospital in Amritsar for advanced treatment.
The driver of the tipper identified as Mohammad Bashir fled away from the accident spot.
Meanwhile, the residents assembled near the accident site and demanded action against those involved in the accident.
While speaking, owner, whose vehicle was damaged in the incident, said that police is not providing them the copy of FIR. The residents also alleged that the cops were driving the tipper, when the accident took place.
On getting information, senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the residents.
However, a case under FIR Number 159/2020 under Sections 307, 188, 427 and 109 IPC has been registered against the tipper driver Mohammad Bashir at Bakshi Nagar Police Station and hunt has been launched to nab the accused driver.
